About English Teacher Vault

Welcome to the English Teacher Vault! This site was created by a licensed 6-12 English and Language Arts teacher with over 15 years of experience teaching English who realized that there are some serious challenges when it comes to this job.

The Problem:

The fact is, teaching English at the secondary level is really two jobs (or more!) if you think about it. After you've spent a whole day teaching students the material, plus building rapport with each of them, and navigating the other demands of the job, there is no time or energy left to plan tomorrow's lessons (especially if you have 3, 4, or even 5 preps!).

On top of this, our world is constantly changing, and what worked for English and Language Arts instruction a decade ago, may no longer be relevant. As English teachers, we can no longer teach students as though they are going to work in a factory or ignore the fact that they can easily access facts anytime they want.

Resources That Inspire:

We need to teach English in a way that inspires students to be critical thinkers, strong writers, curious learners, and problem solvers. These are the concepts that drive our lessons and curriculums.

Our mission is to alleviate the burden of planning great lessons by providing you with exactly what you need for grammar, writing, and literature instruction in your secondary classroom.

Let's face it, English textbooks are mostly uninspired busy work. Our students deserve better. And so do you!

While all the lessons you'll find in English Teacher Vault are research-based and guided by standards, we are not shackled to those standards. We know that what allows literature, grammar, and writing to affect our students is meaningful lessons informed by strong pedagogy including student choice, mentor texts, the power of authentic audience, and more. Everything you'll find in our vault of resources was created by actual teachers, and used with actual students! Plus, our resources are up-to-date with customizable, digital and print versions available in nearly every lesson.

What's Included:

The vault currently has full curriculums for teaching grammar in 9th grade and 10th grade (a two-year sequence is available), although you can adapt these resources to 11th or 12th grade.

Inside the vault you will also find writing units, podcasts units, and literature units. We add at least one unit a month to the vault.

Starting in the fall of 2024 we will have the framework for a full 9th grade course (that includes grammar, writing, and literature units), the framework for an American Lit course, and the framework for a World Lit course.

By August there will be pacing guides for each of these courses and two units in each curriculum.

We will add one unit per month to each curriculum until you have a full-year curriculum.

You'll have access to all these units, and the membership price you started at will never change.

The English Teacher Vault is available to all site visitors. Membership includes new lessons delivered to you every month!
